Finally, something I really really want to talk about in public...

http://browncoats.serenitymovie.com/serenity/index.html?fuseaction=forum.viewtopic&t=27565

Joss Whedon says Thanks and Good Bye. With style. With panache. What a wonderful, creative, and funny man. I want to see and hear lots, lots more from him for years to come. I wish he weren't such a rarity. In fact, I wish all the cast of Serenity weren't such a rarity. They've been great. They've been active and available and funny with the Browncoats and the Serenity posting boards.

Take a big bow, guys. Accept hugs and kisses and fond memories from a whole bunch of people - even the ones like me, who were mostly just on the periphery, but still throwing in my $.02 to try and boost DVD sales.

Did I say that I'm loving this man more and more? He has a blog, too. He seems so approachable, even though he's incredibly busy ... he's done 12 movies since Killer in 2004.

So far, I have a professional writer, lawyer, marketing consultant, producer, a gaggle of college girls, a high school girl, and Darya, (all women - heh) who are gaga about Tommy. ...and he's taking time to talk to his fans, aside from just selling his current or next project.

I promised Brad I wouldn't fall down and kiss this man's feet when I meet him ... maybe I could just bow real low ... or hire a band to play fanfares or something ...

Here's a pretty pic of C. Thomas Howell.

I snurched it from Darya's CTH site at

www.cthomashowell.net

That's Tommy with Jennifer and Mark, who were both in A Killer Within with Tommy. Jennifer played one of the "street girls", and Mark was "Sonny Bruton".

I also found a trivia page (http://www.cthomashowell.net/aboutct.htm ) with this interesting bit:

"In 2003 CT was hospitalized for 4 weeks because of a ruptured appendix, a very serious illness, fatal if not treated on time.

(ruptured appendix causes peritonitis and blood poisoning)

He lost 45 pounds and surgeons had to take out 3 feet of his stomach among other things in order to save his life. That's the real reason behind his gaunt look in all his movies between 2003 and 2005.

As of today Tommy has fully recovered.
He’s currently working out with a trainer and he has already gained 12 pounds of muscles and his face has filled back.
He’s also following a strict protein and carb diet."

Darya has a very interesting site, and she's a loyal CT fan. She's recently graduated from college, I hear.

Hmmm.

Maybe leather pants are over rated. I've been going through production stills and finding all these pretty pictures of these two handsome men in those great suits... a big sigh for the suits. and for the guys wearing them.

C. Thomas Howell and Giancarlo Esposito are both in the upcoming Poseidon Adventure on NBC.

I also hear that A Killer Within will air on Lifetime Channel this month.

So, this man is going to sit around a club and meet with any fans who want to come, sign autographs, give hugs, take photos - whatever - for a whole evening.

Wow.

I really really like this man. He is a very nice guy. If you're a CT fan, you'd better get yourself to Austin November 19. He's going to be sitting around Maggie Mays club, on 6th street, after the showing of A Killer Within at the Alamo Draft House.

Oh, and my friend Brad Keller will be there, too.

I don't think Crichton's pants can be nearly as interesting as these two guys putting themselves out there to schmooze their fans. I'll go hold their coats.

:)

Crichton's pants, or my friend Brad?

I have a dilemma. A choice to make, and it’s a painful one.

November 19th has coolness occurring in two places at the same time. I have to choose which one I want to go to.

In Burbank is Creation’s Farscape con. All my friends who I haven't seen since last year, nice weather, probably some good entertainment, too. The one thing that absolutely tempts me is…. Crichton's pants!!

They're going to auction off Crichton's leather pants, vest, boots, duster, pulse pistol holder, maybe even a pulse pistol?!? That's what it looks like. Id like to just see them up close. Better than that, I wonder if they'd fit me. Probably, except that the pants are definitely too long, as I think back on Mr. Browder's width and height.

Sigh.

On the same day, in Austin, TX, is a huge blowout opening for A Killer Within at the Alamo Draft House. A very cool place to be in Austin. And a party at Maggie May’s afterward. Lots of goodness and coolness to be had there. C. Thomas Howell is flying in for the event. Its a blast to hear how the planning is going for this event.

Its amazing to hear how many fans Mr. Howell has here! I had no idea! The woman at the Alamo Draft House is a huge CT fan. The woman at the radio station is a huge CT fan. The woman at the club is a huge CT fan. I met a script writer who is completely crazy about CT and talks about how sweet he is. The people who have worked with him talk about how great a guy he is.

I'm noticing a trend here. All the above mentioned people are female. Even my daughter has talked about how great CT is. Women love C. Thomas Howell.

When I heard about how the conversation went with the radio station woman, I could so totally empathize with her. In the course of the conversation the marketing rep referred to CT as “Tommy”.

Silence on the other line.

Small, awed voice, “…you call him Tommy?”

How cool is it to get to be the person who calls up the woman who is a huge fan of a guy and not only get her help in promoting him, but then to ask her if maybe she could escort him around all day so he doesn't get lost trying to get to the different interviews?

I wonder if they had to peal her off the floor? Heh.

There's a girl, just graduated from college, who does a fan website for Mr. Howell.
www.cthomashowell.net

She links to Mr. Howell's blog!! And Brad Keller’s!

She has a page of all the nice things people say about Thomas. Now, that's cool.

He's done 11 movies since he did A Killer Within?! Wow! That guy stays busy!!

There's a really yummy photo of him on the first page.

The coolest thing I've ever heard? CT contacted her after he found out about her site and how supportive she's been. He emails her and talks to her, and makes sure she gets cool stuff for her site. He gives her news bits and quotes from him to put on her site.

What a wonderful thing for him to do. Especially since he's been busy making all those 11 movies in the last year or two. He finds time to give a fangirl a pat on the back and thank her and tell her how much he appreciates all the support she's given him.

I want to fall down and kiss this man's feet!

No wonder he has loyal and numerous fans. They never wonder if he's wanting to ditch them. And apparently he has a really sexy voice? I'll have to check on that next time he's on the screen. He's in the new Poseidon Adventure movie coming out, along with Giancarlo Esposito - another nice, nice man and wonderfully entertaining actor.

Brad Keller says he's seen Mr. Howell's feet, however, and opines that I really don't want to get anywhere near Tommy's feet. ;D

OK. Well, that brings me back to the original quandary: Crichton's Pants? Or my friend Brad and this wonderful man, C. Thomas Howell?

Hmmm.

Ouch.

Its Crichton's pants, man!

Did I mention that I wouldn't kick Harrison Ford out of bed for eating crackers? Yeah, he was looking good.

Hmmm.

Considering that I threw a few rotten tomatoes at Harrison Ford in my last post, I should give him some huge Kudos for what he's done for the EAA Young Eagles Program.

They have a First Flight Certificate for pilots to give to kids who take their first flight with them. It's all about the Young Eagles program, and Harrison Ford has signed the bottom.

Cool.

Very cool.

http://www.airventure.org/2005/sunjuly31/ford.html

The photo on that page is soo not worthy of the man. I saw him at the EAA Airventure Airshow a couple of months ago, and he was looking mighty fine and a lot younger than that photo makes him look. I don't care what "They" say, the camera DOES lie!

I had to laugh at Harrison walking around at the airshow. People would see him, and instead of doing the "Oh, gawsh, it's a celebrity!" thing, it was, "Hmm... I wonder if he flew in? What did he fly? He has a Beaver, doesn't he? Wonder if he flew it in?" They probably would have been wanting to ask him how that plane trues out and what does it's instrument stack look like.

I would have been more interested in the paint scheme and the color of the interior and the seats. "Ooh! Shiny paint!" ... and a hug. I'm all about hugs. I'd have asked for a hug, but he looked like he was really busy with other stuff...

Pilots.

They're exotic Geeks, you know. Don't tell them, though. They think they're jocks. ;D

Shortchanged on Browderage

OK, you guys! An Inauguration. My first LJ entry.

To sum up most of my thoughts from the last bunch of days, weeks, months, who knows?

Ben Browder is an outrageously talented actor. Pretty to look at, but the even better part of him being on the screen is that he is so darned GOOD at what he does! Acting, that is.

I've gone back and watched movies and TV shows he's done, and the man always stands out in the crowd - no matter how good or bad the rest of the production. I've even read critics' comments to the same effect.

This is one really fascinating thing about Ben, and I think something that sets him apart. I can't for the life of me figure out why this man isn't all over the place, except that he or his management choose for it not to be so.

I watched "Hanover Place" this weekend. College Girl Daughter had found the poster for this movie in an airshow flymarket a couple of years ago. Really pretty. Harrison Ford & Leslie Anne Down. Looked like it was made just after Star Wars. Same haircut, same young thin kid look on Harrison.

This thing really stunk. I've heard that he was less than proud of this one. He'd probably faint if my daughter asked him to autograph her poster. Obviously had a nice budget. Universal Studios. Great costuming, sets, crane shots and aerial shots, green screen (ick, obvious!) shots, lots of B25's and 40's cars (cool factor). Bad writing, bad acting, bad makeup (Harrison and Leslie both looked straight out of the late 60's, early 70's makeup and hair), probably not great directing? A HUGE waste of money and time! except for the REALLY pretty stills one might glean from it. hmmm. better go make some of those.

Anyway, my big point is that no matter what I find with Ben in it, at what stage in his career, he stands out in the crowd. He's always better than the other actors.

Chewing the scenery?

nah.

He IS the scenery. :)
